NCCN Guidelines™ and NCCN Compendium™ Updated

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines™) and NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium™) for Multiple Myeloma.  These NCCN Guidelines™ are currently available as Version 1.2011.

In the updated guidelines, serum-free light chain assay is now included as a part of the initial diagnostic work-up. Previously, it was included under tests that may be useful under some circumstances. Also, 1q21 amplification has been added to the FISH panel under initial diagnostic work-up.

Bortezomib/cyclophosphamide/dexamethasone has been added to the list of options under primary induction therapy for transplant candidates. Bortezomib/dexamethasone and Melphalan/prednisone/lenalidomide have been added to the list of options under primary induction therapy for non-transplant candidates.

Additionally, the following representative regimens that combine standard agents with novel agents have been added to the list of options under salvage therapy: cyclophosphamide/bortezomib/dexamethasone and cyclophosphamide/lenalidomide/dexamethasone.

For Systemic Light Chain Amyloidosis, two new regimens have been added to primary treatment options.  These are bortezomib/dexamethasone and cyclophosphamide/thalidomide/dexamethasone (CTD) regimens.

All of these additions are designated as category 2A.

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines™) and NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium™) for Small Cell Lung Cancer.  These NCCN Guidelines™ are currently available as Version 1.2011.
