NCCN Flash Update: NCCN Guidelines Updated

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines™ for Genetic/Familial High-Risk Assessment: Breast and Ovarian. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 1.2011.

The Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer syndrome testing criteria were updated to include:

  • For a personal history of breast cancer, if diagnosed age < 60 y with a triple negative breast cancer.
  • Two criteria which include pancreatic cancer:
  • Personal history of breast and/or ovarian cancer at any age with ≥ 2 close blood relatives with pancreatic cancer at any age.
  • Personal history of pancreatic adenocarcinoma at any age with ≥ 2 close blood relatives with breast and/or ovarian and/or pancreatic cancer at any age.

The Li-Fraumeni syndrome testing criteria were updated to include the Chompret criteria.

The management of Cowden syndrome for both women and men was updated to include a new bullet to consider colonoscopy, starting at age 35 y, then every 5-10 y or more frequently if patient is symptomatic or polyps found.

 

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Venous Thromboembolic Disease. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 2.2011.

The discussion section of the NCCN Guidelines for Venous Thromboembolic Disease has been updated to correspond with the treatment algorithm.
