NCCN Flash Update: NCCN Guidelines Updated

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 2.2012.

The Discussion section of the NCCN Guidelines for Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia has been updated to correspond with the treatment algorithm.

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Adult Cancer Pain. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 2.2011.

The Discussion section of the NCCN Guidelines for Adult Cancer Pain has been updated to correspond with the treatment algorithm.

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines and the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium™) for Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 1.2012.

  • The recommendation to "Determine risk score" was added to the work-up section with a link to a new attachment page with the Risk Calculation Table.
  • A new table was added for Treatment Options Based on BCR-ABL KD Mutation Status.
  • T315I: HSCT or clinical trial
  • V299L, T315A, F317L/V/I/C: Consider nilotinib rather than dasatinib
  • Y253H, E255K/V, F359V/C/I: Consider dasatinib rather than nilotinib
  • Any other mutation: Consider high dose imatinib or dasatinib or nilotinib
  • Recommendation for patients with failure to first-line TKI (Footnote "r") was clarified throughout the Guidelines, "Patients with failure to first-line imatinib should be treated with nilotinib or dasatinib in the second-line setting. Patients with failure to first-line nilotinib or dasatinib, should be treated with the alternate second generation TKI in the second-line setting."
  • Continuation of imatinib at the same dose was deleted as an option for patients with minor cytogenetic response after 6 months or a partial cytogenetic response after 12 months.
  • Switching to an alternate second generation TKI is included as an option for patients with a minor cytogenetic response at 6 months or a partial cytogenetic response at 12 months.
  • Footnote "y" was added to remission following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT): "In patients with prior accelerated or blast phase, consider TKI therapy post HSCT for at least one year."

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines and the NCCN Compendium™ for Occult Primary (Cancer of Unknown Primary). These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 1.2012.

  • The Discussion section of the NCCN Guidelines for Occult Primary has been updated to correspond with the algorithm.
  • Recommendations for workup and management of neuroendocrine tumors of unknown primary were replaced with a referral to the section on "Neuroendocrine Unknown Primary" in the NCCN Guidelines for Neuroendocrine Tumors.

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Small Cell Lung Cancer. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 2.2012.

The Discussion section of the NCCN Guidelines for Small Cell Lung Cancer has been updated to correspond with the treatment algorithm.
