Program Overview

The NCCN 2007 Nursing Program is designed to provide advanced practice oncology nurses with information on a variety of topics integral to quality cancer care. It consists of several presentations focused on the complexities of cancer care, symptom management and supportive care issues, and leading strategies to advance nursing research. This presentation will focus on nursing research and patient outcomes as integral components to advance the current state of quality care provided to cancer patients. This presentation will review what defines evidence-based care and how to utilize nursing research and patient outcomes to advance the quality of cancer care.

Educational Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Define the components of evidence-based care
  • Describe the current ways nursing research and patient outcomes are impacting cancer care
  • Explain how the advanced practice nurse can become involved in nursing research

Intended Audience

This educational activity is designed to meet the educational needs of advanced practice nurses who manage patients with cancer.

Activity Instructions

Contact hours will be awarded to participants who listen to the presentation and complete the evaluation.  Participants should review the learning objectives and faculty disclosure statements prior to listening to a presentation in its entirety.  You must be connected to the Internet in order to review and complete the evaluation form.  A certificate of completion will be electronically generated once you complete the evaluation form.  To receive contact hours, this activity must be completed no later than August 29, 2008.  There is no fee for participating in this activity.
