Program Overview

The NCCN 2007 Nursing Program is designed to provide advanced practice oncology nurses with information on a variety of topics integral to quality cancer care. It consists of several presentations focused on the complexities of cancer care, symptom management and supportive care issues, and leading strategies to advance nursing research. This presentation will focus on lung cancer, which remains the leading cause of death from cancer. This presentation will discuss the populations at risk for developing lung cancer and the impact of current screening and preventive programs for the reduction of lung cancer and lung cancer-associated mortality.

Educational Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Identify risk factors for the development of lung cancer
  • List current modalities available for lung cancer screening
  • Discuss the current strategies for lung cancer prevention

Intended Audience

This educational activity is designed to meet the educational needs of advanced practice nurses who manage patients with cancer.

Activity Instructions

Contact hours will be awarded to participants who listen to the presentation and complete the evaluation.  Participants should review the learning objectives and faculty disclosure statements prior to listening to a presentation in its entirety.  You must be connected to the Internet in order to review and complete the evaluation form.  A certificate of completion will be electronically generated once you complete the evaluation form.  To receive contact hours, this activity must be completed no later than August 29, 2008.  There is no fee for participating in this activity.
