Program Overview The NCCN 2007 Nursing Program is designed to provide advanced practice oncology nurses with information on a variety of topics integral to quality cancer care. It consists of several presentations focused on the complexities of cancer care, symptom management and supportive care issues, and leading strategies to advance nursing research. This presentation will focus on how delirium from cancer or cancer-related therapy can be a distressing side effect for the patient and family. This presentation will discuss cancer-related and therapy-related factors which increase a patient’s risk for delirium, the impact of delirium on a patient’s quality of life, and strategies for early recognition and management of delirium. Educational Objectives Following this activity, participants should be able to do the following:
Intended Audience This educational activity is designed to meet the educational needs of advanced practice nurses who manage patients with cancer.
