Program Goal

The goal of this program is to provide participants with increased knowledge regarding the use of aromatase inhibitors in the treatment of breast cancer.

Educational Objectives

Following this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify differences in the safety profiles of aromatase inhibitors and tamoxifen
  • Counsel postmenopausal patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer about the risks and benefits of adjuvant aromatase inhibitors and of switching to an aromatase inhibitor after tamoxifen
  • Provide patients with information on the risks and benefits of extended therapy with an aromatase inhibitor or tamoxifen
  • Describe ongoing research on the use of adjuvant aromatase inhibitors with concurrent ovarian suppression in premenopausal patients with breast cancer

Intended Audience

This educational activity is designed to meet the needs of physicians, nurses, and other clinical professionals who manage patients with cancer.

Activity Instructions

Continuing education credit will be awarded to participants who listen to the presentation and complete the evaluation. Participants should review the learning objectives and faculty disclosure statements prior to listening to a presentation in its entirety. You must be connected to the Internet in order to review and complete the evaluation form. A statement of credit will be electronically generated once you complete the evaluation form. To receive credit, this activity must be completed no later than May 7, 2010. There is no fee for participating in this activity.
