The NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ for Head and Neck Cancers have been updated to include PET-CT and CT with contrast as an option for workup in several cancer sites, including oropharynx, hypopharynx, glottic larynx, supraglottic larynx, and nasopharynx. A post-treatment evaluation with imaging was added to assist in patient selection for neck dissection for cancer sites including lip, oropharynx, hypopharynx, occult primary, glottic larynx, and supraglottic larynx.
Updates were also made with regards to radiation therapy, with altered fractionation schedules added to cancer sites including maxillary sinus tumors, oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, occult primary, and supraglottic larynx. A “Radiation Techniques” page was created to provide further guidance on radiation treatment, including Intensity-Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) and Fractionation.
