NCCN Guidelines for Patients® Version Updates: Lung Cancer Screening

Following are the major updates that were included in the NCCN Guidelines for Patients®: Lung Cancer Screening 2014 Version:

      • For solid or part-solid nodules, the nodule size used to decide when the second screening test should occur was changed. A nodule size of greater than 6 mm but no larger than 8 mm should be tested again in 3 months. People with smaller nodules should start yearly lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography.

      • For non-solid nodules, the nodule size used to decide when the second screening test should occur was changed. People with nodules 5 mm or smaller should be tested again in 12 months. A nodule larger than 5 mm but no larger than 10 mm should be tested again in 6 months.
