NCCN Oncology Case Management Program™

Program Overview

NCCN, drawing on the expertise of faculty from its 21 Member Institutions, offers oncology case management education programs to meet the needs of health plan medical directors, case managers, and other specialties in managed care organizations about the current state of the art and advances in cancer treatment, including discussion of when and why patients should be referred to a major cancer center and the role of clinical trials in cancer care. The programs also highlight the comprehensive cancer care delivered by NCCN Member Institutions. Included in the program will be information on the development and use of the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology™ and NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium™. Audience interaction is encouraged during all programs.

Intended Audience

These educational activities are designed to meet the needs of medical directors and other physicians, case managers, nurses, and other specialties within managed care organizations who work with cancer patients.


NCCN Oncology Case Management Program™ Webinars

Webinars are free 90-minute programs that provide in-depth overviews of the four most frequently diagnosed cancers – breast, lung, prostate and colorectal.

Educational Objectives

Breast Cancer
Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the clinically important subsets of breast cancers and the principles of targeted therapy for breast cancer based on tumor biology.
  • Describe the local and systemic treatment options for early and late stage breast cancer.

Colorectal Cancers
Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the surgical and non-surgical treatment options for colon and rectal cancers and when they are appropriate.
  • Describe the chemotherapeutic agents that can be used in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer.

Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer
Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Summarize the potential benefit and negative impact of lung cancer screening.
  • State the consensus opinion in the NCCN Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Guideline.
  • Describe the role of surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapeutic agents in the treatment of patients with inoperable non-small cell lung cancer.

Prostate Cancer
Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the treatment options for clinically localized prostate cancer, their indications and side effects.
  • Describe the basic biology, diagnosis, grading and staging of prostate cancer.
  • Describe the fundamentals of robotic prostatectomy and IMRT.
