NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology Symposium™ Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Friday, November 13, 2009 (Palo Alto, California)

Register now to secure a seat at this symposium.

Program Overview:
Based on the deliberations of experts from 21 leading cancer centers, the NCCN Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Guidelines provide sequential recommendations for the management of lung malignancies. This symposium will present these algorithms and focus on new approaches that have been incorporated into the guidelines, including the use of drugs, biologics, and diagnostics. The meeting format features case report presentations and audience feedback (via an audience response system) to highlight application of the guidelines in clinical practice. Participants are given the opportunity to comment on the guidelines with their developers and provide input for consideration in future updates.

Educational Objectives:
Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the different surgical approaches to management based on site and stage at presentation and indications for surgery in non-small cell lung cancer
  • Outline the principles of surgical resection in non-small cell lung cancer
  • Describe the appropriate work-up for patients with non-small cell lung cancer
  • State the role of pre- and post-operative radiation in combination with chemotherapy in the management of non-small cell lung cancer
  • Describe the current status of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for Stage III non-small cell lung cancer
  • Identify the roles of new therapies in new management strategies for metastatic non-small cell lung cancer
  • Outline a multidisciplinary approach for the management of non-small cell lung cancer
  • Describe the role of NCCN non-small cell lung cancer outcomes database in benchmarking quality of care.
