Educational Objectives

Following this program, participants should be able to:

  • List the appropriate pathology techniques for diagnosis and prognostic modeling for patients with hematologic malignancies
  • Identify the available therapeutic options for acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, systemic light chain amyloidosis, multiple myeloma, mantle cell lymphoma, and low-grade lymphoma
  • Describe the clinically relevant subtypes of myelodysplastic syndromes and risk assessment with respect to their roles in selecting therapy
  • Define best practices for the management of supportive care issues including fever and neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, bone complications, and iron overload
