Points to Consider on the Best Practices for Biorepositories, Registries and Databases

Designed to serve as a tool and resource for research investigators who plan to design, implement, and manage a research study which intends to deposit, transfer, and/or access specimens or data in a biorepository, registry or database.

The "points" provide applicable principles, strategies, basic considerations, and best practices, with suggestions and examples that an investigator can consider in an effort to satisfy national and international standards, funding agency and institutional requirements.

This document is not meant to provide an all-inclusive list of elements and strategies, but rather provides common ground for discussion and points to consider by investigators, any research collaborators, and/or regulatory personnel. A Glossary of terms relevant to biorepositories, registries and databases has been developed and is also included as a basic tool.
