NCCN Patient Resource Updated in Collaboration with the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association

By Laura Hanisch, PsyD, Medical Writer/Patient Information Specialist, NCCN

The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) has published an updated and newly redesigned NCCN Guidelines for Patients®: Esophageal Cancer.  This publication is made possible in part through support from several organizations and individuals, including the Esophageal Cancer Awareness Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping patients, caregivers, survivors, family members, and anyone at risk of the disease.

The NCCN Guidelines for Patients®: Esophageal Cancer has been updated from Version 2013 to Version 2015 to reflect the most recent updates in the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) for Esophageal Cancer. The 2015 Version addresses appropriate referral to cancer genetics professionals, and new recommendations for surveillance have been added. Furthermore, information regarding the treatment of early cancers has been revised, and systemic therapy regimens have been updated. A digital version of the NCCN Guidelines for Patients®: Esophageal Cancer can be downloaded free-of-charge on NCCN.org/patients.

NCCN currently offers NCCN Guidelines for Patients® for Breast Cancer: Stages 0-IV; Colon, Esophageal, Non-Small Cell Lung, Ovarian, Pancreatic, and Prostate Cancers; Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia; Caring for Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA); Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia; Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma; Melanoma; Multiple Myeloma; Lung Cancer Screening; and Soft Tissue Sarcoma.

NCCN is committed to developing a comprehensive patient library with support from the NCCN Foundation®.
