NCCN Flash Updates™: NCCN Guidelines® & NCCN Compendium® Updated

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) and the NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium®) for Cancer- and Chemotherapy-Induced Anemia. These NCCN Guidelines® are currently available as Version 1.2016.

  • Special Categories in Considering ESA Use (ANEM-4)
    • The following category has been added: "Patients not receiving therapy or palliative treatment, or those on non-myelosuppressive therapy." ESAs are not recommended for those patients.
  • Indications for Red Blood Cell Transfusion in Patients with Cancer (ANEM-A)
    • For symptomatic anemia in the setting of acute coronary syndromes or acute myocardial infarction the transfusion goal has been revised: “Transfusion goal to maintain Hb ≥10 g/dL is unclear and is being evaluated. Consider clinical context and published guidelines."

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Guidelines for Thyroid Carcinoma. These NCCN Guidelines are currently available as Version 2.2015.

  • The Discussion section has been updated to reflect the changes in the algorithm. (MS-1)

  • The Discussion section has been updated to reflect the changes in the algorithm. (MS-1)
