NCCN Flash Update™: NCCN Guidelines® & NCCN Compendium® Updated

NCCN has published updates to the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) and NCCN Drugs & Biologics Compendium (NCCN Compendium®) for Breast Cancer Risk Reduction. These NCCN Guidelines® are currently available as Version 1.2017.

  • Fallopian tube or primary peritoneal cancer was added as criteria for further genetic risk evaluation. (BRISK-1)
  • Criteria modified for risk assessment: Woman does not meet any of the familial risk criteria or tests negative for a genetic predisposition. (BRISK-3)
  • The following modifications made to Elements of Risk (BRISK-3)
    • Family history added
    • Number of prior breast biopsies modified: Procedure done with the intent to diagnoses cancer, multiple biopsies needle/excision of the same lesion is scored as one biopsy
    • Prior oophorectomy before the age of 45 years
  • Risk-Reduction Therapy Desired (BRISK-5)
    • “Lifestyle modification” added as a risk reduction intervention.
