In April 2017, National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) leadership presented the differences between Patient Centric Care and Patient Advocacy in the United States and presented the NCCN Guidelines for Patients® during the first International Congress of Patient Empowerment, which was held on 24 – 25 April at the Polish Olympic Committee Center in Warsaw, Poland.

In addition to presenting, Robert W. Carlson, MD, Chief Executive Officer, NCCN, met with the Polish oncology community leadership, advocacy organizations, Ministry of Health, and the U.S. Embassy staff in Warsaw to discuss NCCN’s global role in health care.

The global influence and demand for the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) is ever increasing. Today, nearly half of all registered users of the NCCN Guidelines on NCCN.org report that they live outside the United States. In order to increase the global access to high-quality, high-value cancer care, NCCN has developed strategic global initiatives.
