The National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) leadership participated in the following workshops and presentations:

  • “NCCN Implementation Workshop”
  • “NCCN Model: Resource Stratification and Evidence Block”
  • “Expert Round Table Meeting.”

These presentations took place during the International Forum for Quality Cancer Care (IFQCC 2016), “Facing the Global Challenges of Access to Cancer Medications,” in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The IFQCC 2016 forum served as a platform for oncology professionals and medical oncologists from the MENA region, China, and Europe to collaborate in improving the quality and safety of cancer care across borders. The Forum was organized by Cancer Care Commission, Oxford, United Kingdom, in collaboration with major international and regional leaders in health care delivery sciences with strong interest in oncology related disciplines.

Robert W. Carlson, MD, Chief Executive Officer, NCCN, discussed and presented major themes, including the process of adapting NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) recommendations and prioritizing treatment options, the NCCN Framework for Resource Stratification of NCCN Guidelines (NCCN Framework™), and the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology (NCCN Guidelines®) with NCCN Evidence Blocks™. Additionally, Dr. Carlson discussed methods of improving access to cancer medication globally.

The global influence and demand for the NCCN Guidelines is ever increasing. Today, nearly half of all registered users of the NCCN Guidelines on report that they live outside the United States. In order to increase the global access to high-quality, high-value cancer care, NCCN has developed strategic global initiatives.
