Malignant germ cell tumors

Guide 25

lists adjuvant treatment options for germ

cell tumors. Observation is an option for stage 1

dysgerminoma and grade 1 immature teratoma. For

embryonal, endodermal sinus (yolk sac tumor), stage

II to IV dysgerminoma, and stage I grade 2 to 3 or

stage II to IV immature teratoma, chemotherapy is

recommended.

Chemotherapy drugs given for malignant germ

cell tumors are bleomycin, etoposide, cisplatin,

and carboplatin. These drugs are given as a com-

bination treatment. Etoposide may be given with

cisplatin or carboplatin.
