DCIS

Review

Review

• DCIS should be tested to see if it is estrogen-

receptor positive or negative.

• Genetic counseling can help assess if you

have hereditary breast cancer.

• Most women with DCIS are treated with

breast-conserving therapy or a total

mastectomy.

• Lifestyle changes, endocrine therapy, and

surgery help to prevent future breast cancer.

• Follow-up care includes breast exams by your

doctor and yourself as well as mammograms.
