Chemotherapy and HER2 inhibitors Treatment options: HER-2 positive cancer

Chart 4.3

shows when chemotherapy with HER2

inhibitor(s) is advised for HER2-positive breast

cancers with any hormone status. Treatment is

also based on tumor size. Your doctor may want

you to have chemotherapy with HER2 inhibitor(s)

if the breast tumor is 1 cm or smaller and there’s

none or little cancer growth in the axillary lymph

nodes. Chemotherapy may help lower the chances

of the cancer returning. Chemotherapy with HER2

inhibitor(s) is advised for breast tumors that are 1.0

cm or larger. Likewise, it is advised when at least one

lymph node tumor is larger than 2 mm.
