The Impact of Health Care Reform on Academic Oncology Practice

NCCN held its second policy summit of 2014 on the topic “The Impact of Health Care Reform on Academic Oncology Practice” on July 10 at the Westin Arlington Gateway in Arlington, Virginia. Much of the discussion regarding health care reform and implications for cancer care delivery to date has focused on the impact on community oncology practice, with much less attention being paid to the impact on academic cancer centers and the patients they serve. During this Summit, there were two sessions, each one beginning with a keynote presentation that addressed the intended impact of the law and the anticipated effects and effects actually being experienced by academic cancer centers, followed by a roundtable panel discussion. Panel members were chosen to represent multiple constituencies.

The program included sessions on the following topics: The Physician Payment Sunshine Act, and Impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other healthcare reforms on academic cancer centers. This Summit was open to the public.
