On September 25, 2017, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) hosted a summit focused on defining, measuring, and paying for quality in cancer care. The summit examined the past and current efforts toward developing oncology quality measures, discuss the value of those measures, the role these measures play in payment models, and, whether patient care and the patient experience has improved as a result. The summit also explored the future of reporting of quality metrics and highlighted two best practices in quality reporting. The summit provided an opportunity for a varied group of stakeholders to thoughtfully discuss the development of quality measures, challenges of reporting, and the importance of incorporating the patient perspective.
