State Oncology Society Forum

In recognition of the essential role of community oncologists and their representative state oncology societies in advancing the quality of cancer care, NCCN provides an annual forum for open dialogue, an exchange of best practices, and the identification of areas for collaboration. Fundamental to the success of this program are the shared core values of the state oncology societies and NCCN, which is to improve the lives of patients with cancer.

 

2022: NCCN's 11th Annual State Oncology Society Forum

The NCCN 11th Annual State Oncology Society Forum took place on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, via Zoom. The Forum was focused on the use of telehealth in oncology throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Topics discussed include how oncologists utilized telehealth for their patients, barriers and access issues, policy challenges, and the benefits and drawbacks to using tele-oncology in caring for patients. Panelists also discussed how they envision the use of telehealth beyond the pandemic. There was also an update on NCCN resources and initiatives, including NCCN’s support of Ukraine and NCCN’s work on the Elevating Cancer Equity Initiative. Read a summary of the event.

2021: NCCN’s 10th Annual State Oncology Society Forum

The NCCN 10th Annual State Oncology Society Forum took place on Monday, April 5, 2021, via WebEx. The Forum featured presentations on the impact of COVID-19 and vaccine developments on cancer screening, treatment, and survivorship; Medicare Home Infusion Therapy Services Benefit; state legislative briefing on precision medicine and biomarker testing; and oncology nursing certification review course. There was also an update on NCCN resources and initiatives, including NCCN’s response to COVID-19 and NCCN’s contributions to the Elevating Cancer Equity Initiative. Read a summary of the event.

2020

The NCCN 9th Annual State Oncology Society Forum took place on Thursday, March 19, 2020, via WebEx. The 2020 Forum featured presentations on networks of excellence; methods for building successful state societies in a variety of settings; emerging value-based models in oncology; and the use of NCCN Content as an alternative to prior authorization. There was also an update on NCCN resources and initiatives, including NCCN’s recent efforts to share COVID-19 resources with key stakeholders.  Read a summary of the event.

2019

The NCCN 8th Annual State Oncology Society Forum took place on Saturday, March 23, 2019, during the NCCN 24th Annual Conference: Improving the Quality, Effectiveness, & Efficiency of Cancer Care™. The 2019 Forum gave community oncologists in attendance an opportunity to dialogue with Cigna and eviCore on their utilization management tools, which utilize NCCN content. Additionally, there were policy updates on CMS’ coverage of CAR T-cell therapy and the impact that impending biosimilar adoption will have on cancer care. Finally, there were best practice presentations from three State Oncology Society representatives. Read a summary of the event.
