John Greene, Senior Director of Customer Centric Engineering at Salesforce.com, Named to NCCN Foundation® Board

The NCCN Foundation® welcomes John Greene, Senior Director of Customer Centric Engineering at Salesforce.com, as the newest member of the NCCN Foundation® Board of Directors.

FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. – The NCCN Foundation®, which, through private philanthropy and grants, advances the mission of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of care for patients with cancer, welcomes John Greene, Senior Director of Customer Centric Engineering at Salesforce.com, as the newest member of the NCCN Foundation Board of Directors.

As Senior Director of Customer Centric Engineering at Salesforce.com in San Francisco, California, Mr. Greene and his team ensure customer success by triaging, troubleshooting, and debugging complex customer issues on the Salesforce.com platform.

Prior to his career at Salesforce.com, Mr. Greene spent six years providing and managing enterprise Technical Support at BEA/WebLogic and served as Vice President of Community and Support for an online virtual world.  He holds a bachelor`s degree in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Massachusetts.

In November 2010, Mr. Greene was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). After several rounds of chemotherapy and a successful stem cell transplant at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center in March 2011, Mr. Greene is doing well and back to his everyday activities. He returned to work full-time in September 2011, and, in just one month, led Salesforce.com in raising more than $60,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) annual Light The Night Walk in San Francisco. In 2012, he led Salesforce.com in tripling that amount to more than $180,000. A personal account of Mr. Greene`s experience with cancer is available on his blog: http://jgwkia.com/.

NCCN is delighted to welcome John Greene as the newest member of the NCCN Foundation Board of Directors, said Patricia J. Goldsmith, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, NCCN. Through his survivorship and dedication to philanthropy, as well as his customer-centered professional experience, John brings to the NCCN Foundation Board a unique perspective. From the moment I met John, I was struck by his passion, as well as his insights into cancer care and the importance of addressing survivorship.

Surviving cancer affects everyone differently, said Mr. Greene. With a wife and two young children, I knew that a full recovery from my illness was the only option–not just survival. An unexpected gift from my battle was learning about organizations like NCCN and LLS and realizing how much my experience and passion could help these great organizations. I am honored to be given the chance to serve with this distinguished Foundation.

Through private philanthropy and grants, the NCCN Foundation advances the mission of NCCN to improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of care for people with cancer. The NCCN Foundation began full operations in 2010. Chaired by Sam Donaldson, ABC News veteran and a cancer survivor, the NCCN Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of members from various corporations, academic medical institutions, and advocacy groups who are committed to gaining philanthropic support for resources and programs for patients with cancer, as well as research dollars to further the careers of young investigators, clinicians, and nurses at NCCN Member Institutions.
